Beginnings

It started with a charity website. A friend a charity, had a  a website to promote it. As time went by, the charity work grew, mainly due to the online exposure.

Knowing how I like a challenge my friend suggested that I help out by taking over the maintenance of the website. After adding features and redesigning elements, it started looking fresh and more up-to-date.

One website became two and soon I had quite a few websites in my portfolio.

That’s when I realised I had the “bug”. No longer content with looking at a web pages, I was now “seeing” the various elements within them;  what makes one website stand out more than others; what elements work and what features are best avoided. It was at this point that my hobby had become a business.

I truly believe that if you do what you enjoy, then you do it better. As an avid reader I am always on the lookout for the latest news and information on website design, it’s a fast moving ride, with twists and turns along the way, each twist bringing new ways of presenting information, each turn, new guidelines and practices.
